We are open to visitors most Sundays from the first Sunday in May to the last Sunday in October for our regular open days. But we also open for some special guests every year, and to celebrate the holiday season with friends of the donkeys and mules.
Spring is a time of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings! We invite you to celebrate the season with us at our Spring Celebration Open Day on Palm Sunday, April 13th at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.
Donkeys have played an important role in history, culture, and tradition, including the story of Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem as a symbol of peace and humility. This special day is the perfect opportunity to meet our rescued donkeys, enjoy the beauty of nature, and learn more about these gentle and intelligent animals.
As a special thank-you, we’re offering a discount for visitors using the promo code PALM when booking tickets for this special afternoon. Whether you’re coming for reflection, relaxation, or just to spend time with our donkeys, we welcome you to share in this day with us!
For many years now (pandemic notwithstanding), we’ve reserved two days every season exclusively for seniors to come and visit the donkeys and mules. These days have been quite popular, and we plan to carry on the tradition.
Our 2025 Seniors’ Days will be held on July 8th and October 14 from 11am-3pm. No advance tickets needed. $15 payable on admission. Non-seniors may attend ($20) if accompanied by a Senior, but no children on this day please.
On the three Sundays before the Christmas break, we open the Sanctuary to visitors to experience a different season at the DSC Farm. Cold weather and (usually) snow make for a whole new experience with the donkeys and mules for visitors. Plus, our Long Ears Boutique is open for any gift shopping you might like to do, and the longer coats of the donkeys are a delight to stroke, for animal lovers of all ages.
To buy a ticket to visit the DSC, go here. You may purchase single tickets or an annual pass.
We like to plan ahead here at the DSC, so when you buy a ticket, we know to expect you on an open day. Particularly for reasons of parking capacity, it’s good for us to know how many people will be coming out to visit the donkeys and mules on one of our Open Days.
When we do know that we’ll have more capacity for parking than we have sold tickets, we make some tickets available at the gate. A word of caution, though, we can’t guarantee they won’t be sold out before you get here.
Only service animals are permitted to visit the farm.
Yes, strollers are permitted at the DSC, except in the Donkey House and Learning Centre.
Please be aware that there may be areas (grass, gravel path/driveway) where it might be difficult for a stroller to roll smoothly.
Although most areas are accessible for wheelchairs, some trails and areas of the barnyard have rough or uneven terrain.
The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a working farm. We recommend closed toe shoes and long pants.

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a not-for-profit licensed charity. Our mission is to provide a lifelong home to donkeys, mules and hinnies that are unwanted, neglected or abused and we promote the responsible stewardship of all animals through humane education. We envision a world in which the dignity and worth of all creatures are recognized and respected.
The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is proud to offer our FREE onsite professional farriers’ clinic.
As the temperatures drop and the seasons change, the DSC will be closed to visitors for the winter months.
Volunteering at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a rewarding experience. Plus, donkeys!
