Rufus

In 2013 Rufus was rescued from a barn sale with very overgrown hooves. The people who rescued him provided a loving home for Rufus for many years. In 2021 they applied to become part of our Host Farm Network, and we placed a donkey named Jace with them. Rufus and Jace became fast friends and enjoyed their time together bonding over buddy grooming and grazing time in their paddock. Rufus followed Jace everywhere.

Unfortunately, when the host farm owner passed away and the family was not able to continue to look after Jace and Rufus, they requested that Jace returned and asked for Rufus to join Jace at the Sanctuary Farm. Rufus arrived with Jace in the summer of 2024.

Rufus has settled in quickly here at the DSC and he is a sweet donkey who loves attention.
