Jasper

Jasper, his mother and two siblings were living on a farm in southwestern Ontario until they were surrendered to the DSC in August 2013 after the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA investigated reports of neglect at the farm.

When Jasper first arrived at the DSC, he was wary and somewhat anxious around people, and it was apparent that he had not received much handling over his short life. Veterinarian and farrier care were slowly started after a week, to give him time to adjust to his new surroundings, and he was then gelded. His training included lots of patient handling by DSC staff, so he learnt that being with people isn’t threatening.

He now lives contently with all our other geldings.
