Luigi

In the late summer of 2024, a concerned citizen spotted Luigi in a field with a PVC pipe wrapped around his fetlock, they reached out to the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC) and connected with PAWS (Provincial Animal Welfare Services) to see if there was anything that could be done to help this donkey. PAWS went to check out the situation and gave the DSC the good news that the owner was willing to relinquish Luigi into our care, Luigi arrived shortly thereafter.

The DSC animal care team was able to quickly get Luigi here to the farm and Luigi was assessed by our vet team. They were able to remove the PVC pipe and were happy to see that there was minimal damage to Luigi. The wound healed very nicely, and Luigi was the absolute best patient. We are all excited to watch Luigi settle into his new life here at the DSC with so many new friends to meet.
