Gelding (male donkey)
Born in 2002, Jace is a grey-white large standard donkey. He was admitted to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada in November 2012 with another donkey named Cora, and a miniature pony named Honey. Jace, Cora, and Honey were part of a petting zoo located in southwestern Ontario, and the owners felt the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada would be a more appropriate home.
The DSC was able to take in Jace and Cora, and Honey was taken in by the Wind Dancer Pony Rescue Foundation.
Upon arrival, it was soon evident that Jace was nervous about being approached and having his feet handled by a farrier. As he continued to get more comfortable and around people, he eventually graduated to our Host Farm Program, and lived for some years together with another donkey, Rufus, at the Host Farm. When life circumstances changed at the Host Farm, the family requested that Jace returned to the DSC, and we would also admit Rufus at the same time. Jace returned in the summer of 2024.
