If you ask Judy Carrick whether you should participate our annual fundraiser, PACE for the Donkeys 5K, she will tell you to “bring a friend or come alone — you won’t be disappointed. It is so well organized!”

Judy has been participating in PACE, the DSC’s major fundraising event of the year, for most of her 10 years as a DSC volunteer. When a friend told her about the DSC, Judy checked into it and took her training. She was charmed by how smart and social the donkeys are. “They really want to be with us,” she says of the time she spends grooming after doing other chores. And her favourite donkey? That’s whichever one is standing next to her!

PACE helped Judy to discover some of the other charms of the DSC. She loves walking the trails during PACE, spending time with everyone who comes out for the event, and of course…the donkeys!

Over her years volunteering, Judy has seen the Donkey Sanctuary develop and she wishes that more people knew about the great work that goes on here and could learn about what donkeys need. PACE helps to raise that awareness, as well as raising the funds that allow the DSC to care for the animals who call the Sanctuary home. By signing up for the fun and recruiting sponsors for your run, you can join Judy in helping to provide food, shelter and medical care for vulnerable donkeys and mules.

Interested in participating in this year’s event? You can sign up for PACE via the button below. See you on pace day!
